Ashley Goldsworthy has an extensive background as a CEO and corporate director, including: Chairman of several private and public companies in the fields of information technology, financial services, education and training, health services, and human resources. Executive Director of the Business/Higher Education Round Table (and a Past President); a past Member of the Industry Research & Development.

Board and Chairman of its IT&T Committee, and a past Director of the Australian-American Fulbright Commission. Former Chairman or CEO of billion dollar corporations in the construction, housing, hospitality, gaming, property development, information technology, banking and insurance industries. A past member of the Business Council of Australia.

Founding Chairman of the Centre for International Research on Communication and Information Technologies based at RMIT University; President as well as CEO (and Life Member) of the Australian Computer Society; World President of the International Federation for Information Processing, and in 1999 achieved the rare honour of being elected an Honorary Member of that body. A Governor of the International Council for Computer Communication; and in 1996 the Peoples Republic of China honoured him by electing him a Fellow of the Chinese Institute of Electronics (One of only 5 Foreign Fellows).

Director of Economic Statistics for the Australian Government. He has served on many government boards including the Australian Science and Technology Council; the Australian Payments System Council; National Library; and Consultant to the Australian Law Reform Commission. In 1997 he chaired the Information Industries Task Force which gave rise to The Global Information Economy Report (the Goldsworthy Report).

Past Chairman of the Queensland Theatre Company, Director of the Australian Ballet, the Queensland Ballet (Life Member), the Rock ‘n Roll Circus, and the Queensland Performing Arts Trust.

Former Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Leadership at Bond University and an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University. Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.

Former Federal President and Life Member of the Liberal Party. His community service includes the Scout Association, Arthritis Foundation, Red Shield Appeal, and the National Gallery of Victoria.

He became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1982 for services to the computing profession, and an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1991 for distinguished service to information technology. In 2003 he was a recipient of the Centenary Medal, created to honour living persons who have made an outstanding contribution to Australian society or government.
